TIME TO GET MOVING

What is GAMESHOW?

Ladies and gentlemen, the time has come! Pixel Playground’s first Roblox game, GAMESHOW, is going live, and we’re excited to tell you a little more about what we’ve been working on alongside two of your favorite creators, Karl Jacobs and KreekCraft.

GAMESHOW is part throwback, part innovation. We drew inspiration from game show episodes of old and platformer movement from back in the day, while also building movement and environment interactions that haven’t been seen before in the Roblox sandbox.

Today, we’re going to talk a bit more about that movement piece. Part of what makes GAMESHOW so different is its fast, frantic pace, as well as the options you have for getting around each mini-game. Wherever the wheel lands, you need to understand the basics and some of your advanced movement options to get an edge and be the GAMESHOW champion.

Dip, Duck, Dive, Dodge

GAMESHOW has a bit of randomness to it, from the games you play to how you interact with other players on the map, but there’s a lot of skill built into the game too. That skill shows itself in mastery of the following movement options:

Dash

Zip ahead of the group, whether it’s to win a footrace or to speed up before a giant jump. Use this skill wisely! There is such a thing as going too fast, after all, especially once the host starts shooting lasers at you.

Roll

Quick, tuck and, well, roll! It all starts with a dive, which you can also use to get a bit more distance on your jump. But the fun doesn’t stop there: Maintain the roll to kick up some dust and build up speed. The fancy particle effects you leave behind can be customized, too! We’ll reveal a bit more about that soon.

Double Jump_edited.jpg

Double-Jump

Double-jump: Ah, and here’s the (probably) most important one. Double-jumping gives you some extra elevation to get over tough obstacles, and with a well-timed dive, you can turn your leap into an even bigger boost! The best players will master this jump-to-dive mechanic and use it in all sorts of ways.

Wall-Hang

GAMESHOW doesn’t force you to leap over every obstacle in front of you. Sometimes, that first double-jump is just the beginning of a longer climb. You can briefly hang onto surfaces you jump toward, then spring away in a different direction to turn a previously unreachable area into the next step in your journey. Make sure to look for spots, like trees, where you can hop back and forth to get some prime real estate up above!

Now that you know all the tricks, it’s time to get out there and show the host who’s boss! And be sure to follow Pixel Playground on YouTube, Discord, and Twitter. We’ll see you at the GAMESHOW.
